Unlock Your Goals For The Year Forget New Year Resolutions

Why choosing a word to anchor you for the year is far better than any New Year Resolution.

I always feel like New Year's Resolutions are just setting ourselves up to fail.  They are shrouded in negativity, ”I won't drink wine during the week”, "I won't eat chocolate for 90 days"...

What about what you WILL do, want you WANT to do and what you NEED to do to have a kick-ass awesome year?

Last year I created my first Choose Your Word Workbook to mainly help give myself some focus for the year ahead. I then shared it with a few friends on Instagram and they told me that I really should share it wider. So following a successful first year launch, the Choose Your Word workbook is back for 2020 - upgraded for a new year, a new decade and ready to guide you to where you want to be this year.

Unlock Your Goals For The Year Forget New Year Resolutions

I have to admit that I am not a fan of New Year Resolutions.... they rarely stick and they make us feel like we are constantly missing out on something.  Most of the time it is about stopping something, restricting yourself or if it is positive, it still doesn't have any inspired action to make sure we are still sticking with it come September!

So often we choose to go sober, stop shopping, cut out chocolate or hit the gym in the glummest month of the year.... when it really should be a time to embrace the NEW!  This year is extra special as it's a new decade as well as a new year... so let's move forward with positivity and energy rather than wishing that we could have one last chocolate bar or be able to sip a glass of wine with a friend.

By choosing one word or mantra that you can focus on every day, all year long you are destined to live your life in a positive light, not feel like you've failed at the forgotten resolutions (oh the gym... yes I must go more often!)

“Having a word to keep in mind during 2019 felt like holding close an abbreviated version of a mood board or a mantra.

It was amazing always being able to go back to this point of focus and clarity for the year and keep my word in mind during big decision-making times.

Can’t wait for the 2020 workbook, I’m ready to set the tone for the new year!” - Ana Steinberg

Why choose your word?

The idea is focused around having a central word or theme to GUIDE your ACTIONS and to provide an ANCHOR for what you want to embrace more of in the coming year. By using the workbook you can focus on things that help you reach your goals in a more mindful and holistic way.

Every time an opportunity comes your way, consider your word of the year. Does it fit with it? If not, perhaps pass on the opportunity. It's amazing what results you can have from thinking about things in this way.

“My word for 2019 was Integrity and it’s been at the forefront of my mind all year.

I have the word in front of me in my head when in situations where I don’t want to be a “hot head” anymore - and it’s WORKED!  As an anchor point it has also helped me to pause and think about the direction I am taking - rather than flitting from one thing to the other.

I appreciate listening you to re-iterate on social media, how to incorporate my word in my life.” - Anne Worledge

Choose Your Word for 2020 Workbook

Within the workbook I share 5 easy steps to carve out your word for the year and assign some goals to work towards too.  This isn’t just having a word to give you some focus, it needs to fit with your goals for the year and help you take inspired action to achieving them.  The simple to follow steps allow you time to reflect on the year just gone, what you want to achieve for 2020 and ultimately how you want to FEEL!

How I found using the 2019 Workbook and what others thoughts:

You’ve already read some quotes from my lovely followers who downloaded the 2019 workbook and heard what they have to say about it.  I thought I’d share my story on my word for 2019 which was CREATE and this is what I feel I have created this year:

  • I have created more nurturing time for myself

  • I have created more amazing opportunities to advance my life and enhance my experiences

  • I created an awesome Self Care Survival Kit deck of cards - and have now sold these globally!!

  • I have created great coaching programmes to help my clients find direction and purpose in their business and careers

  • I have created a baby due end of January 2020 - wow that's probably the true creation right there!

Here’s what Jeanine in Los Angeles says;

“I love having a word of the year and also choosing it to incorporate into my vision board for the year. Last year I used Rachel’s guide to help get me to my 2019 mantra and clearly landed on “soar.” This has been a year of absolutely setting up an intention and fulfilling so much of it. From a new house (no easy task in Los Angeles) to an acceptance into an artist residency in the French countryside and everything in-between … my year has been amazing and I feel poised for a stellar 2020. I will definitely be using Rachel’s 2020 workbook for myself and with my group of friends at our vision board gathering.”

I love the breakthroughs and energy that have come from the 2019 workbook and the successes that have been realised too - it’s so magical and I can’t wait the words that 2020 brings to my tribe.  Your one word sums up WHO you want to be or HOW you want to live for the next year and I am SO excited for you!
